Events This Week with BAW

This week is another busy summer week for the team at Books Are Wings and our partners. As we head towards a return to in-person programming in schools, we are working closely with partners to expand programming this summer, and offer a variety of opportunities for families to connect with our literacy programs and access FREE books to build their personal libraries. Learn more about our offerings this week that are open to the public:

Monday, July 12th:

We will be at Progreso Latino's Food Pantry from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with books for participating families. The pantry is located at 20 Claremont Street in Central Falls. Learn more about their programming here: https://progresolatino.org


Tuesday July 13th:

  • We will be at the summer meal site run for Providence families through PPSD. Join us from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Nathaniel Greene School at 721 Chalkstone Avenue in Providence. This meal site offers meals for a full week, for students who normally access school meals. Learn more here: https://www.providenceschools.org/Page/5031

  • Join us at the kickoff event for Central Falls' summer meals program! We will have books and literacy activities for families from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 416 Hunt Street in Central Falls. Learn more here: https://www.centralfallsri.gov/parksrec/page/youth-programs

  • Join us at 6:00 p.m. with the Pawtucket Parks & Recreation Division at Slater Park. Pawtucket is hosting a number of free performances throughout the summer on Tuesday evenings in Slater Park. Performances will be held at the stage between the Slater Park office and the historic Daggett House by route of the Armistice Boulevard park entrance. We will be there with books for families!   • Jenks Park, 580 Broad Street

  • Jenks Park Rear, 40 Washington Street

  • Garfield Park, 128 Garfield Street

  • River Island Park, 1425 High Street

  • Sacred Heart Park, Sacred Heart Ave. & High Street

  • Veterans Memorial Park, 416 Hunt Street

In addition to these public offerings, Books Are Wings will also be offering support and books to summer camp programs in Pawtucket and Woonsocket during the week.
