Summer Literacy Programming and Book Access
Summer Programs are aimed at preventing summer learning loss. During the typical school year, BAW will distribute two free books to every child during the final weeks of school during school recess blocks, as a way to jump start summer learning. Programs typically continue throughout the summer months in local parks and recreation centers to help support children in continually practicing reading skills that they might otherwise not have the opportunity to engage with.
This year, to meet the needs of our community during these unique times, we are offering summer programs in a new and different way.
